Party Animal Fun Fold

Hey all! Design team member Megan here with a delightful fun fold featuring Party Animals! I have had so much fun coloring these fun balloon animals from Crafty Stamp Co. I paired the Party Animals stamp set with Party Power 6 x 6 pattern paper. I even tossed in the little present from Party Piggies. This card was created with a sweet almost 11-year-old in mind and I know she is going to love it.

I started with an A2 side fold card base. I then cut my colored card stock and pattern paper for each layer. For this card you will need two of each layer to complete the card front. The cut list is at the end of the post. I cut my layers to 1/8″ difference, but you could do a 1/4″ border difference if you prefer. At this point you will also score the middle panel at 2 1/4″ to create the easel pop up.

I flipped the card to show the inside of the card base and added liquid glue to the 1 1/2″ side strips and panel layers.

I adhered the 1 1/2″ side panels to the card base. Do not adhere the middle strip with score line to the card base, this is the piece that creates the Easel pop up. Adhere the pattern cuts paper to the colored cardstock pieces. I do this to make it easier to line them up before placing them on the card base.

Now adhere the layered pieces to your card base using your choice of adhesive.

Photo below shows all layers placed in the proper position.

Create your layers for your sentiment, you can do this by using a die-cut/punch and stamping directly on it or you can do this by creating a simple rectangle layered piece. I like to repeat colors throughout my card, so I used the layers of colored cardstock from the base and flaps to create my rectangle layered sentiments. I used two sentiments for this card; the inside sentiment will need to be on foam tape to keep the easel portion propped up when the card is open.

This is how it will look once you adhere it to the inside of the card. Now for the best part, stamp out your images, color them in and decorate your card! Side note: keep in mind that the decorations need to stay inside the perimeter of the card base if you want it to fit into a standard envelope.

For my card I used a mix of layered sentiments from the Party Animals stamp set and some glitter dots from my stash.

I colored the Party Animals stamps with Copic Markers, being careful to shade the outside edges lightly to give them a more realistic balloon look. Once they were colored, I added white highlights and a few of the animals received black dot eyes, then covered each one with Glossy Accents to make them shine. Remember that Glossy Accents take a bit to dry. I also colored the package from Party Piggies to add as an embellishment near the lower sentiment. I also added a touch of glitter to the unicorn horn, but she should be shiny and sparkly.

Remember friends this is a handmade card, it is meant to be fun and does not have to be perfect, on the elephant I colored outside the lines and didn’t see it when I was putting the card together (it was a rainy day when I made it). That is ok! The card is still cute and ENJOYED making it.

Mini Easel Card Cut List

Cut a side fold A2 card base, measurement will be 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″. Score at 4 1/4″.

Cut the top flap at 1 1/2″ in from the edge of the card base up to the score line. Then flip the card and cut the other side at 1 1/2″ in from the edge of the card base up to the score line. These flaps will be adhered to the card base.

Score the middle flap at 2 1/4″.

Cut side flap layers of colored card stock 1 3/8″ x 4″ and pattern paper 1 1/4″ x 4″ to decorate. These numbers are subjective, if you prefer a different matting size use it.

Cut center flap layers of colored card stock 2 3/8″ x 1 7/8″ and pattern paper 2 7/16″ x 1 3/4″. These numbers are subjective, if you prefer a different matting size use it.

I hope this card inspires you to create a quick and easy fun fold for someone special. Head over to Crafty Stamp Co to check out all the fun images you can color and add to your cards.
