Wobbly Bat

Hey all! Megan from the design team here, sharing a Just Batsy Birthday card. I paired this sweet little bat with the Swirls of Maddess Stencil and Black and White Birthday 6 x 6 pattern paper.

I was having a bit of a play session with Distress Inks and the Swirls of Maddess Stencil and a bit of scrap paper, I had no intention of making a card. It amazes me how a scrap of paper can inspire you to dig into your supplies and created a card. To create the background, I inked up the stencil with Black Soot, Dusty Concord and Peacock Feather, I made sure to overlap areas of color. I sprayed the stencil with water and laid it on a piece of Bristol Smooth paper scrap. I picked up the corner of the stencil and gently peeled it off the paper. After seeing how beautiful the colors blended, I used a stitched rectangle die from my stash to give the layer a finished edge. I used VersaFine Clair to stamp the witty sentiment directly on the stenciled layer.

I cut an A2 sized card base out of black cardstock, then I started cutting layers. I used a piece of blue green cardstock to cut 1/8″ mat layers for the stenciled layer and the Balloon paper from the Black and White Birthday 6 x 6 pattern paper. I did use a larger stitched rectangle to die cut the Balloon paper.

As I cut layers, I felt something was missing, so I decided to die cut the gray cardstock with a postage stamp style die. This die is much larger than the stenciled background I created, so I chopped off the top and bottom and left just the fun detail to the left and the right of the die cut. I added a strip of glitter ribbon to fil the gap between the stenciled background and the edge of the postage stamp die cut. This layer and was adhered to the card front with low profile foam tape. I also used low profile foam tape to adhere the matted stencil layer to the gray die cut layer.

I used Copic markers to color in the sweet bat, colors used: BV23, BV25, BV31, BV000, RV11, RV32, RV00,R85. I added a wobbler to the bat, because anything with wings should be on a wobbler! To finish the card, I added a few glitter dots.

I hope this card makes you giggle as much as I did. Be sure to head over to the Crafty Stamp Co website to check out the other cute bats they have.
