Time to enter a challenge! Just Add Ink’s challenge prompt this week is Just Choose 2, Flowers – Paper – Pattern. I decided to go with flowers and pattern.
I used the Gardenia Duo stamp, stencil, die set from Altenew to create my focal image and sentiment. I didn’t have any stamp specific stencils in my collection and was excited to add this set a couple of weeks ago.

I spent some time stamping out flowers before I decided I wanted to use the flower outline and the stencil to add the color. I first used a blending brush to lightly add color to the inside of the flower then I used a piece of plastic wrap to dab a a stronger concentration of ink on top of that. The stencil made it so easy to stay in side the lines! I wanted the flower to have a bit of shimmer to it, so I add a bit of Wink of Stella splatter along with splatter from my Basic Black Stampin’ Write maker.

I used the same technique on the leaves, then die cut everything with the coordinating dies using my Gemini die cut machine. The Gemini is another new addition to my craft room, my hope is that an electronic die cut machine will help with the tendinous flare ups!

For the pattern I added a piece of Heart and Home DSP from Stampin’ Up!. I have been wanting to use up the woodgrain style paper and decided this was a the prefect card for it. I added a thin strip of SU retired Be Dazzling Specialty paper and then layered everything on a piece of Basic Gray cardstock from SU. I made sure to bend up the edges of the flowers and leaves and only glued a portion down on the card base. It really does add a lot of interest when you do this.
I fished the card by heat embossing the sentiment you’re So Fab in white and adding silver sequence to tie in the Be Dazzling specialty paper. This card is a great example of mixing new and old, I am on a mission to use my stash…but who can resist a few new stamps sets along the way!
I hope you enjoyed this card. If you did Leave a comment and let me know! Until next time, Happy Crafting.

Very elegant Megan! The diagonal dsp and subtle pattern works beautifully in these colours. Thanks for sharing at Just Add Ink.
