Hello all! Today I am sharing two cards for the Sharing Spring cards challenge, we are on Week 4 of 12! I love the color palette but got an idea in my head for three of the colors and decided to roll with it. I did realize I needed to get pinks in there, so I utilized what was on my desk and created a second card.

For my first card I used watercolor paper and Distress Oxide inks. I smoothed some ink from the pads on to my glass mat then spritzed with water. I used Aged Mahogany (dried with more brown than I anticipated), Carved Pumpkin with Scattered straw mixed in and Abandoned Coral. I used my Altenew watercolor brush to create random circles and I was sure to overlap the circles. After the background dried a bit, I added a bit of shadowing on some of the circles, let it dry again and then hit it with a bunch of splatter. I find that a bunch of splatter tends to take your eye away from areas of “flaws”.

I did end up creating three of these circle backgrounds. Then I stamped out the flowers and fussy cut them to add on top of one of three circle backgrounds I created. I did stamp the flower on to the background and then just topped it with the fussy cut flower head. I wanted a nice clean stem, plus the dots around the stamp add a good amount of detail. I layered it on vellum and a Cajun Craze card base from Stampin’ Up!

With the left over ink on my glass mat, I smooshed a piece of bristol smooth cardstock in the ink. I wanted to use it all up. I did not have a plan for the second card at first, but when this background dried I knew exactly what to do.

Both cards use the Visible Image Creative Chaos stamp set and only this stamp set! It was fun to create with just one stamp set, normally I grab two or three.

To finish the card I added splatter from the colors listed below along with a smidge of watered down white Gouache. I have had that stuff on my wish list for some time and was able to get it. I love how it sits on top and doesn’t pull the pigment of the color below! Then finished with Be content from Dina Wakley Collage Words sentiments, that I gave a little white/pink and black outline too.
Be sure to play along my using #sharingspringcards we would love to see what you have created.
I hope you enjoyed this card. If you did Leave a comment and let me know! Until next time, Happy Crafting.
