Hello all! Today I am sharing a card I created using the masking technique. I am a big fan of getting more out of the products you purchase. And creating masks is a big help with that. This is an A2 size card with simple layers.
For this card I mixed up two stamp sets, New Arrival Elephants and Time to Pawwty. I started by stamping the sweet elephant on masking paper and then fussy cut the image. I repeated the same steps for the kitty with balloons.
I stamped the elephant on to a piece of X-Press It blending card and covered the image with the mask. I lined up the kitty with balloons on top of the stamped elephant so that the balloons were closer to the left of the elephant. I used my stamp positioner to ensure I would stamp the balloons in the proper spot. I carefully inked just the balloons and stamped on top of the elephant mask. Once that was complete, I snipped the balloons off the kitty mask and placed that over the balloons I previously stamped.
From there I placed Ink Splat Stencil 2 over the elephant and balloon image in the position I liked. I used Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink to gently add color to the ink splat. I used the second stencil in the set to add the oval shapes on either side of the splat. Once that was completed, I added black and white splatters. Splatters cover ink oopsies if you have them! Ask me how I know.
I removed the masks and colored the images with Copic markers. I decided to go with the Celebrate sentiment from Time to Pawwty stamp set and stamped it in VersaFine Clair Nocturne to stand up to the Distress Oxide Ink. I have stitched rectangle dies in my stash, and I die cut around the elephant with balloons and ink splat image and die cut a piece of the Birthday Brights 6 x 6 pattern paper.
I used liquid glue to adhere a 1/8th ” border of colored card stock to the stitched rectangle elephant image and the pattern paper stitched die cut. I popped the layers up on a low-profile foam tape for dimension and finished the card with white gel pen highlights and purple sequence.
