Winter Background

Hey friends! Today I have a fun winter card to share with you that features a digital download from White Spruce Studio. You can find Winter Girl with Tree in the White Spruce Studio shop HERE. I have to say she was a joy to color.

For this card I printed her on a 5 x 7 piece of Copic safe paper. Then I printed her again on a piece of Gina K masking paper. I fussy cut the image and placed it over the image on the Copic safe paper.

Then using blending brushes and Dusty Concord, Milled Lavender, Victorian Velvet Distress inks, I created a basic blended background around the image. Once I was pleased with the color variation, I added a few clean water splats waited 30 seconds and applied pressure with a paper towel to life off some of the ink.

I love the Bokeh technique and don’t use it often enough. This is a variation of the technique where I lift off ink though a stencil with a wet paper towel and also add circles in varying sizes with white pigment ink around the focal image. I also added a few circles of Regal Gray Shimmer Interference ink from Cloud 9 to give the background lots of different color to look at. I love the shimmer in this ink!

Once everything was dry, I added a series of splatters in white and gold paints. This helped to give that starry feeling. Once everything was dry, I peeled off the masking paper and got down to coloring! I used Copic markers to color the image. I added a few white highlights to finish off the images.

I decided I wanted to have a arched style card, but I don’t have any arch dies. So, I created an arch frame using stock images on my ScanNcut and then glued it down to the card. Then I glued the this to a card base and used scissors to cut out the arch shape for the card. My edges aren’t perfect but I achieved the look I wanted.

To finish the card, I added lots of shimmer with Wink of Stella and a few shimmer dots. Oh! I almost forgot the pretty sentiment, I cut it out on the ScanNCut and gave it a purple background layer, then covered that in Wink of Stella as well!

I hope this card brings a smile to your face and be sure to head over to White Spruce Studio to check out all the fun projects available!
