Hey crafty friends! Megan with the design team here sharing a blue Valentines theme card with you. This oh so ugly cute Angler fish from the Ocean Friends stamp set has a fun sentiment that pairs with it. You can use it for Valentine’s Day, anniversary cards or even thank you cards. I paired it with the Shark Bait 6 X 6 pattern paper and the Party Polka Dots 6 x 6 stencil.

I started this card by cutting the 6 layers not including the sentiment. Originally, I intended to have the tag style layers flipped upside down. But as I was building the layers it just seemed off. So, I flipped it added the twine to it, popped it up on foam tape and added to the sold blue layer. Then it visually made sense to me

I used the Party Polka Dots Stencil to create the second layer. I created texture in the background by spritzing a piece of the Shark Bait 6 X 6 pattern paper with water. Then I laid the stencil on top of the Shark Bait paper and added a shim to my die cut sandwich and ran it though my die cut machine. The shim helped give a deep impression to the paper like an embossing folder would do. The impression gave the perfect amount of texture to the sold blue background and completed the look I was going for.

I stamped the angler fish using Momento Tuxedo black ink onto Copic safe paper. Then I used Copic markers to color the fish and the water like background. I thought it would be fun to heat emboss the sentiment on yellow cardstock to mimic the glow from the Angler fish. I also popped the sentiment up on foam tape.
To finish off the card I added green dots to break up the blue and tie in the fish colors. and last but not least, white splatter. Did the card need it, probably not. But did I have fun splattering it, I sure did and that is what matters.
I feel like this would be such a fun card to share with someone you love this upcoming holiday. Be sure to check out this cute stamp set for other sea creature fun.
