Color outside the lines

Hello crafty people, Megan with the design team here sharing a card that features my favorite character Positive Tate. This Tate is from the Positive Tate – Time to Craft 4×6 Stamp Set.

Do you lay out your card ideas before you start? I generally do to ensure I will have space for sentiment. In the case of this card, it started one way and finished another. Here was my initial layout. What changed? I decided to add a layer of solid color paper under the pattern paper arches, which meant the placement of the arches had to be adjusted. I also added a pink cardstock arch on top of the white card base and under the other arch layers.

I die cut multiple size arches from dies in my crafty stash. For the pink arch I inked up the edge of the paper with Festive Berries Distress ink. It really made the pink cardstock layer stand out from the white A2 sized card base. For the other 3 arches, I die cut a mix of solid and pattern paper from the Crafty Time 6×6 Pattern Paper. On the back of the arches, I added foam tape and adhered the arches to the front of the card base. I turned the card over and trimmed the layers from the backside of the card, to be even with the outside edge of the card base. I also die cut the pink cardstock using Crafty Stamp Co’s Bubble Wreath die and inked the edges with Festive Berries Distress Ink.

From there I stamped out the cutest potatoes ever and colored them with Copic Markers. I then cut the images out using my Scan N Cut. I also cut a gray shadow layer to help the potatoes stand out on the card’s base layers. I used liquid glue to adhere these pieces together.

I decided this card needed two sentiments, one from the Positive Tate Stamp Set and one from the Handmade Sentiments 4×6 Stamp Set. I stamped each sentiment on the same pink cardstock from the card layers then added a Festive Berries Distress ink to the edge. I adhered the sentiments to another piece of pattern paper from the Crafty Time 6×6 Pattern Paper. Then popped the sentiments up on foam tape.

I splattered Festive Berries Distress ink and white ink onto the card background. I love using a combination of ink splatters, Crafty Dots and white gel high lights pen to finish off cards. I recently added the Crafty Stamp Co dots to my collections. I adore them. This pack is called Sunset Sorbet Crafty Dots.

The combination of sentiments and Tates are perfect for expressing joy. I do hope you check out the latest release from Crafty Stamp Co. There is so much fun to be had.
