White or Colored Card Base?

Here is a fun questions! Are you a person that prefers a colored card base or a white card base? Hands down I am a colored cards base person. Every time I try to create a card on a white base something just feels off to me. Which really cracks me up because as I spend my time “free time” (the 10 min before I pass out from a long day of people caring) scrolling through Instagram and Pinterest I always LOVE photos of the white card base with white second layer!

Here I made two similar cards, using most of the same products. This idea started with the scraps of the True Love DSP once again. The first card I put on Bermuda Bay card base followed by a Whisper White Layer. For the other card I started with a Whisper White card base followed by a Whisper white layer. In hindsight I realize that I should have added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the WW layer on the WW card base. I may have felt differently about this card if I had.

I used my playful alpha bet die to cut out the word LOVE on my hearts. Then layered each heart with the opposite color to add a little more fun.

Side note: I am almost through my Whisper White cardstock and then will open up the Basic White and let you know how that works out!

Leave a comment and let me know if you are a colored or white card base person. I would love to hear your thoughts!

Below you will find my card cut list along with the products used. If you have any questions let me know!

Card Cut Lists (almost the same for both cards!)

Use a Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer to cut a piece of Bermuda Bay or Whisper White Cardstock to 4 1/4″ x 11″.  Score and fold at 5 1/2″. This will be the card base.

Cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock 4″ x 5 1/4″. This will be the first layer.

Cut a piece of True love DSP (or use scrap as I did) 2″ x 5 1/2″ and 2 x 5 1/4″ for the WW card base. I used a smaller piece of scrap and just cut it in half to get it to the length of 5 1/2″and 5 1/4″.

Die cut a piece of Bermuda Bay using one of the stitched scalloped rectangles from the Stitched So Sweetly dies.

Using scraps die cut 2 Basic black hearts and 2 Granny Apple Green hearts. I also cut a 1 black heart for the Whisper White card base card.

Use a scrap of so Saffron to stamp your sentiment layer.
