I am playing along with this week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge #GDP298. I thought the layout was clean and would be easy to work with. I got a cute idea in my head using the Plentiful Plants set and got to work. I got it finished and went to scroll through the submissions to add my link and realized that there was another card that used Plentiful Plants in the same manner that I had made my card. So that card was out, it will be a post later this week. I moved on to Party Puffins.

The Party Puffins presented a small challenge, I wanted two of them looking at each other and thought I will just do the reverse stamping technique using my Silicone Craft Mat! That did not work out, the way the puffin stamps has an added layer to give the wing more detail and it just created a blotchy mess. That is when I decided to cut the party hat off the larger puffin. I traced the edge of the puffin to give it more detail and hopefully make the party hat cut line look cleaner. I feel it worked out!

I created the back ground that the Puffins sit on with the Soft Pastels, I used Costal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, and Night of Navy. Then I added a bit of…you guessed it splatter! I used the retired Champagne Mist shimmer paint for this.

To create my layered sentiment I added to 3/4″ stirps, the Ombre Specialty paper was cut to 3 1/4″ and the Beauty of the Earth DSP was cut to 3 1/2″. I then white heat embossed my sentiment from the Lighthearted Lines stamp set on Night of Navy, I popped it up on dimensional. This card front sits on a Night of Navy Card Base. Side note: I Love my multipurpose glue, but keep it away from the Soft Pastel areas of your card, just use the Stampin Seal. It will save you a lot of heartache and re-do work because liquid touched the Pastels!
I bought this stamp set because of this sentiment, I’m sorry for what I said when I was hangry. This card will be hanging out in my stash until the day I need to give it to my husband, which I am sure won’t be too far away. There are a lot of fun sentiments in this set
