Coffee Kind of Day

Did you see the color combo over at The Global Design Project this week? Real Red, Sahara Sand, and Basic Black! Such a great combo, I just had to play along! When I made my first card for this challenge I had Cherry Cobbler on mind! This is he second card I made using Real Red. I demonstrated how to create this card on my Instagram Live last night, thanks to all who joined!

For this card I used the Nothing’s Better Than stamp and die set! The set has a bit of a retro vibe to it and I felt it would be fun in these colors. I stamped my images using the coordinating Sahara Sand card stock and Ink. This is one of the things I appreciate most about Stampin’ Up, COLOR CORDINATING PRODUCTS!

I then used my blending brushes to add a hint of Real Red on top of each of stamped Coffee words, then add a thin layer of Sahara Sand ink over the coffee cups. I used the back of my scissors to add rough up the edge of the paper, once that was completed I added more Sahara Sand ink to the edges of my cards stock.

I used the sentiment stamps from the Nothing’s Better than stamp set to stamp and white heat embossed TODAY IS A AND KIND OF DAY. I adhered those directly to the stamped piece of card stock. I stamped out a coffee cup on Sahara Sand cards stock in Real Red ink and die cut the image. The Coffee cup has a second layer that can be stamped to cover the the inside of the cup. I did this by stamping off twice and then stamped the inside of the cup. Then there was a boo boo, I had the cup sitting next to me and when I was working with the blending brush I swooshed right over half of the cup. I decided to use it even with the mistake, popped it on a dimensional and placed it on he card front. I will refer to this as a happy accident.

To finish off the card I added black splatter with my Stampin’ Write maker and then added few black sequence (you know you all have them in your stash, USE THEM). Also if you have a take your pick tool, USE IT! It is such a great help when dealing with sequence. I used a Basic Black card base and then added a one inch strip of the Peaceful Prints DSP to the left side of the card and adhered my card front with multipurpose glue. Viola, a finished card front. Don’t forget to add a layer inside your card, you can stamp a cute coffee cup on the lower left side for a fun detail on the inside.
