Here we go again another fantastic prompt for the folks over at Just Add Ink . This week for challenge # 602 it is a choose two challenge. Heat Embossing is my #1 all time favorite card making technique.
I ended up using all 3 of the options list, well I used modeling paste instead of Texture past. I wanted a smoother surface to add the Diamond Dust too. But how cool is it that I recently purchased a number of new stencils to play with and this Choose Two popped up!
For this card I decided to use the 6 x 8 Rainbow stencil from Simple Stories and one of my new favorite color mediums, INK SPRAYS! I used two distressed oxide sprays for this card, Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade. I saturated a piece of Mixed Media paper, then used my heat gun to dry it. I tired to be patience and let it air dry…tried. Once that the panel was dry I positioned the rainbow stencil and added the modeling paste. The cool part of the process was that once the wet paste touched the oxide ink, the paste started to pick up color from the panel. I ended up with some gorgeous yellow/orange variations!
Once the paste was applied I sprinked Dimond dust all over the it and then gently pressed it in to the paste so it would stick and not all fall off when I picked it up. Then I really had to be patient and let it air dry for a bit.
While I waited I worked on the sentiment elements, I used the Altenew Hello and Hugs set for the Hello awesome friend. I die cut 2 layers of hello on black Simon Says card stock, then heat embossed awesome friend in WOW! ebony embossing powder on a cloud I punched out with a Stampin’ Up! punch.
Once everything was dry I laid out the card and decided I wanted it to have a second layer of color and added a piece of Flirty Flamingo card stock from Stampin’ Up! under the rainbow layer. I added 3 of the black classic matte dots from SU! to finish off the card. The process of making this card was SO much FUN , I really am enjoying learning new to me techniques.
I hope you enjoyed this card. If you did Leave a comment and let me know! Until next time, Happy Crafting.
