Let’s be real

This cute image is from Polkadoodles Craft and guess what it was free when I signed up for the newsletter! I did end up having to trim off some of the wispy hairs, fussy cutting them was a task that I did not accomplish. The sentiment is from the digital stamp of sentiments set they have called Rebel with Attitude. There are a lot of sentiments I will be using in the future. I picked up a bunch of digis while I was checking things out.

The frame was created by cutting the middle of a scalloped flat card from Hobby Lobby out with an Xacto knife. I didn’t love it being white, so I just added watercolor loosely all over. The mermaid is water colored but I did at extra lines with color pencils to her hair. I was trying to give it a realish hair look and it did not work out like I thought it would. That is ok, something to continue practicing. The background is watercolored using Winsor-Newton watercolors. And of course, various splatter!

I started with a different sentiment but kept chopping them crooked with my junky paper trimer. Then I saw this sentiment and went with it. Figured it says it all and even and a crooked cut sentiment would be ok!
