Pastel Perfection Instagram Card Hop

Today’s card is for the #sharingspring24 card hop over on Instagram! Head over to @that_crafty_golden to start at the top and work your way through a talented list of designers!

I created a watercolor background on Tim Holtz Distress watercolor paper. I then used the Swirls of Madness 6 x 6 Stencil from Copictopia Creative to create visual interest with Gesso. I adhered the background to a card base using double sided tape. TIP: I am finding I prefer that over gluing it. The edges pop up less.

The fun duck in the tub is a digital Stamp from Polkadoodles called Bath Time Chick bubbles. The thing I like about digital stamps, is the ability to size them the any size. I am still getting the hang of that part, so I have a small duck printed for a gift tag or something at a later time. I wanted this one to be a nice big focal point.

Let me take a minute for some real talk. I do not like coloring with color pencils, it is just not my jam. As I am crafting with limited supplies right now, I won’t give up. I am going to head over to Kit and Clowder and dive into some of the training they offer to see if I can find a way to enjoy it before officially not doing it any longer. I do like the color pencil look on Kraft cardstock, mostly because it takes less effort. While I do enjoy coloring, color pencils seem to take a lot of layering to get a nicely colored image. I don’t have a lot of time to color, so I need big impact minimal time. I get that with markers so it is more enjoyable for me, and I feel like I can get projects done. Thanks for take a minute with me lol!

The sentiment came to me while I was driving, and I was lucky enough to remember it when I got home. So, I typed it, printed it and layered it on a strip of pastel paper. I printed out a few additional bubble images I found in Canva to give the card a little more detail. I added foam tape to the duck and one of the sets of bubbles to raise up parts of the card. Overall, this is a pretty simple card but took me a few days to accomplish.

I hope you enjoyed this card and if you did be sure to leave a comment letting me know!
