Playing along with this week’s Freshly Made Sketch #499! Now the sketch says any shape in the corners. I have to say I loved the triangle corner look, so I went with it.
I started with a piece of Thick Basic White cut to a square card that measures 4 7/8″ x 4 7/8″ (my envelope is 5″ x 5″ I wanted to make sure it would fit). Then decided to use up some of my Sale-a-bration DSP from the Penguin Playmates Pack. I added a strip of gold to go with the Misty Moonlight.
Here is where the whimsy comes in, I used the Whimsical Trees Bundle to add my stamp die cut images. Two of the smaller trees in the set, one stamped in Old Olive and the other in Merry Merlot. Just look at the detail of the tree, this is a great stamp set. I heat embossed the ornaments in gold and then die cut them. I did end up trimming off the ends of the “strings” on the die cut, I wanted the paper edge to line up just right with the edge of the paper.
Then sadness fell upon the card, I heat embossed my sentiment after I had all the elements on the card! I used the Merry Christmas stamp from the Little Delights stamp set. I used my Stamparatus to line up the sentiment and wait worked out perfect. UNTIL, I decided I wanted to add a little more detail to the Merry Christmas. I used a gold glitter pen to add a few lines, turns out the gold glitter did not match and I ruined the card! It was not a life-altering situation, but it was the best Gold Heat embossed sentiment I have ever done.
Out came my paper snips! I clipped off the corners, cut a new card base, and heat embossed the sentiment again. It was not nearly as perfect and easy as the first sentiment was, but TADA Finished card.Product List
