Ooohhhh do I have two fun cards for you today! SO, my friend Stampin With Safia posted a YouTube Video for the watercolor masking technique, you can watch it HERE! I am intimidated by watercolor but have given myself a goal of learning it this year. This technique is a great because it has you work in a small space. The way Safia explains this technique really took the scary out of it for me. I absolute love how the cards turned out! These cards are fairly quick and if you stay focused, you can get them done in a day! I am not focused it took me a few days.

I used Ranger Watercolor paper for my projects, I like that it is a whiter watercolor paper than others. I used the rougher side of he paper for the technique. I used the Altenew watercolor pallet for my main colors and the Starry Colors by Kuretake for my bits of shimmer. I really enjoyed the process of moving the pigment around the paper and being able to add more water or dab it to remove some color if there was to much. When I first did it I did not think it would look nice, but once it tried I was in love! Be sure to let the are dry fully before adding the shimmer color on top. It is so neat by just changing a few colors you can get so many different looks!

For the leaf card I wanted a silhouette of a leaf. I found an image online and cut it out with my Brother Scan N Cut because shockingly I don’t have any foliage dies at this time. I am crafting from my stash right now and my Brother Scan N Cut has saved me a few times.

For the focal on the shades of orange and yellow card I used the Fresh Blooms set from Altenew. I heat embossed the outline flower stamp in WOW! Ebony Black embossing powder directly on the water color area. I really wanted to put a KOI fish on this card, but I did not have one so I went with a big flower! Then I added a few gems and put it on a Basic Black card base. I decided I wanted to keep the cards focused on the watercolor area and did not add any layers. But you can!!
Lets talk sentiments! I love the Casual Greetings hot foil plate from from Essentials by Ellen, the sentiments are just fun and quippy. If you know me this fits my personality perfectly. I have the Gemini Foil press and when the announcement was made that it was being discontinued, I stocked up! So this will be my go to machine for awhile. For the sentiments on these cards I used Gold Spangles Hot foil on black cards stock, and it is gorgeous. I hope you make some cards using this technique!
I hope you enjoyed this card. If you did Leave a comment and let me know! Until next time, Happy Crafting.
